Our top tips for Affiliates |
| |
| 1) Select Merchants that fit the target audience of your site, there is no point for example putting a banner for a dating site on a site about pets and vice versa. |
| 2) Link building, it is best to seek out sites that are similar or topical to your site and exchange links with them. Not only will you get more visitors from these sites but it will increase how search engines see your site and in turn will improve your rankings. When you contact each site ensure that you do it individually and personally, as this will receive a better response than an auto generated spam like email. |
| 3) Research as much about the products or services you are promoting as you can. This will help you write content for your website and also pick up on search terms that people might use to find these products and services. |
| 4) Less Is more, If you're not an SEO (Search Engine Optimization) expert don't chase the big terms when promoting your site or the pages inside it. Instead go after less popular longer phrases, you will be surprised at how much better these convert compared to the single or double word terms. |
| 5) Calculate Your Bid Limit, PPC (Pay Per Click) is good for getting targeted traffic to your website, however don't get into a bidding war, it will only end in tears and you may well be out of pocket. Try to calculate what a site visitor or member of your site is worth to you and try not to bid higher than this. |
| 6) Keep Developing Sites, don't just rely on one website. Many different sites with diverse themes increase the amount of product and service you can promote. This 'spreading of bets' evens out seasonal and market trends, making 'bad months' less likely. |
| 7) Fresh Food Sells, Try to give new relevant Merchants a trial on your site, you never know if they will outsell the established larger Merchants you currently promote. (Remember you are not limited to a single Merchant with Paid On Results). You may be surprised by how some great opportunities are overlooked by webmasters until someone makes mention that they are doing very well from a particular program. Often by this time you will have lost weeks of potential revenue. |
| 8) Keep An Eye On Your Performers., Review the actual conversion statistics of your Merchant partners on a regular basis. If you have sent one a significant volume of targeted visitors (perhaps a thousand) and have not had a sale, it is probably worth reviewing this particular Merchants appeal to your audience. Poor performance can be down to many factors both 'in' and 'out' of the control of Affiliates and Merchants, so you are always recommended to try and visit Merchant sites to experience it from a customer's point of view. This can often help you work out ways to point your users in the right direction before you send them to a site, making them more responsive to actually completing a purchase. |

| 9) Make Yourself Sticky. Running a 'double opt-in' Newsletter for your site is a great way to communicate new offers and information about your site. A weekly, fortnightly or monthly newsletter to your subscribers is a proven way of keeping your site fresh in their head. You will increase your number of repeat visitors while re-enforcing messages about products and services available via your site. This, in turn, should lead to increased revenue. It is important to use 'double opt-in' as it will prevent any issues with regards to spamming. Remember if your newsletter is informative, fun or generally useful enough, that people have actually requested to receive it, they will be far more likely to buy from it. |

| 10) Spread The Word. With '2nd Tier Affiliates' you can also make money through other webmasters. If a particular program is working well for you and other popular sites in your arena are not promoting it, you can let them know, by sending them a link to Paid On Results with your tracking ID. If they go on to sign-up under you, you will earn 5% of their income from all Merchants on the Network, payable to you by Paid On Results direct. |
