HOME BAKING MARKET – POST ISOLATION STILL RISING

In just 4 months we have sold over 1,000 products won awards for design and out idea, Premium home baking is driving the entire category The premium and baking box market is growing and added £139m to the category as consumers want convenience and inspiration which is why we change our boxes with the seasons and we run food businesses so what customers want as can always stay head of the curve. Our latest research shows, 51% of UK adults not back more than they did in lockdown and 21% that’s 4million now bake daily. 71% claim they bake once a week and they are starting early from 5 upwards.  Baking frequency was up by 20% to July according of Kanter World Panel. Our research shows up to 20th August that has risen again by 9%

The 16 million bakers with a focus on new generation of 18-34 year old bakers included young families who are new to baking and want to learn more or those who have just taken up baking. ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

REDRAWING A MULTIMILLION FOOD BUSINESS IN 8 DAYS.

Britain Loves Baking  came about when a group of entrepreneurs lead by Greg Wixted helped his younger brothers set up and launch Love Food & More in the Northern Territory after the major supermarkets and meal solution companies closed their online operations in Australia at the start the global pandemic on top of the 3 brothers who saw all their food operations and investment close and for some cease trading determined not to see their 10 year old business go to the wall. They also saw the how not have food supplies  left many locals in remote locations with limited access to food delivery.  They felt and saw the huge social and business impact the pandemic has made in their local community from key workers to the elderly, local businesses, to farmers and villages, and decided to act on this situation working with their amazing suppliers to build a hyper short sustainable supply chain. They worked with small and local producers and employed local people to create yummy and delicious food & grocery  boxes made and delivered locally.

Greg and his brothers stepped in with Local Food and More to feed the local community and keep the local economy alive during the pandemic, and after working around the clock and in 8 days they had an operation up and running and days later found themselves feeding 1000’s of families. Despite expensive ad campaigns and fine words from the big supermarkets most ordinary people couldn’t get a delivery which has seen their business grow, and when Greg had to cut his trip short and return to the UK the brothers used the next 14 days to bring a version of Local Food and More to market, but customers wanted baking ingredients and 12 days later the first baking boxes we delivered locally including fresh ingredients, another 4 weeks later of customer feedback Britain Loves Baking was born – creating all the dry and ambient ingredients  and recipes delivery to the nations door.  

ABOUT ANDY AND MARK WIXTED

Mark was born in Limerick, Ireland in 1980, trained at Killbegs College before working at numerous 5 star hotels including the Liebherr Group. At 23, he was Head Chef of the Michelin  fine dining bistro Freddy’s Bistro, and in 2009 Mark was made Head Chef of the Absolute Hotel. That year also saw Mark awarded the title Irish National BBQ Champion. In 2013, Mark moved to Darwin as Head Chef of Monsoons. In 2017, Mark opened the Northern Territory’s first traditional fish and chip shop with his twin brother and is now one of the leading chef assessor and trainers in Australia  www.wixtedcatering.com  www.schoolsandco.com www.wixtedinnovation.com

Andrew attended the same catering college as twin brother  Mark and has worked in many fine dining restaurants, winning 2 AA Rosettes. Andrew, along with Mark, won the title Irish National BBQ Champion in 2009. The following year Andrew went travelling and found himself in Darwin, where he subsequently married. Andrew set up his first restaurant in 2014 The Rodeo Steakhouse in Noonamah, and the following year he took on the Palmerston Golf Club kitchen. He still manages both of these operations. In 2017, Andrew opened The Chippy Dinah Beach with Mark, along with Wixted Catering, an event based catering company with a consultancy offering which has become one of the fastest growing food businesses in the Northern Territory region from School Catering to Film & TV to the largest public event caters.

 

ABOUT GREG WIXTED, CO-FOUNDER:

Sibling to Andy and Mark, Greg has advised and worked for some of the biggest brands on the planet. He is one of the co-founders of Xpert Innovation with offices in London and the Middle East. Greg has a deep understanding of consumer behaviour, agile thinking, innovation and venturing and knows what it takes to bring products to the global stage. like his brothers, he’s a trained baker and chef and opened his first restaurant at the age of 23.
